Cordilleran exhibits and performances left Baguio awe-struck as the third annual WOW Philippines ‘Cordillera’s Best’ opened last Nov 28 – Dec 2.
The Dept. of Tourism showcased the diversity of Cordilleran culture through a number of competitions, seminars, and exhibits in different venues within Baguio City. Among the highlights of the activity were the Grand Parade of Cordillera festivals where performers from the different provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region featured their festival dances. Saint Louis University’s Cordillera Cultural Performing Group won “Best in Audience Appeal” and gained Php 15,000 prize during their presentation of Ifugao’s “Paet” festival. Also, they bested the Cordillera Cultural Theatrical Performance competition on Nov 30 with their “Tebag” dance, a ritual dance for the sick. The long-awaited Philippine Military Academy silent drill stunned watchers as they marched with synchrony at the Athletic Bowl. They danced the famous “Beautiful Girls” and “Papaya Dance.” Set as favorite Bookmark
