“No natural boundary seems to be set to the efforts of man; and in his eyes, what is not yet done is only what he has yet attempted to do.-Alexis de Tocqueville”
The sleeping giant is in trouble. It has awakened from its sweet slumber, perhaps a bit too early and surprising to its neighbors. Well, that sudden transformation happened decades ago. If one would look at the world market now, China’s economy is blooming and growing steadier over the years. Everything China made is cool, and cheap. This sparked the advent of quality yet affordable products. However, it did not take long before these products lost the limelight. As the demand for such products escalated, factories and production outlets had to find a way to catch up with the mounting wants of the consumers. In a dramatic effort to prove its power and efficiency, China pushes itself to its utmost capacities, the results of which are quite detrimental. Quality is compromised for quantity. Today, various defects and problems have surfaced from China made products. Some notable ones include poisonous candies and clothes and toys with excessive lead content. The latest fad would be the melamine filled milk products. This issue is quite alarming especially since these products are hazardous to our health. Indeed, it is one way to look at it and say that the Chinese are becoming irresponsible and selfish because they only think about their profit. But there could be another possibility to it. It is a fact that other economic powers are gradually lagging behind the industrial race, so one scheme would be to slow down the aggressive tiger economy of China by creating anomalies on the thriving trade of the Red Giant. No one would let his competitors get ahead of him. But this is no game, the business realm is more than a race of the best in trade, it involves the welfare of millions of lives. It should be taken with a note of seriousness and social concern. Whatever the reason may be, no one deserves to be the underdog or the victims of self-centered and self-conceited motives. Curse those wicked businessmen who only think of gaining money, curse the world’s standards for putting the rich on top and curse the conformists who put the entire humanity in a state of damnation. *** Thanks to God, always!
